Each year, the Ljubljana Jazz Festival features some of the world's biggest names in jazz, attracting music lovers from home and abroad. Over 3 days, the festival hosts local and international musicians, mainly taking place at the Cankarjev Dom and Križanke, the open-air summer Theatre. Tickets can be bought online or at the Hard Rock music shop on Trubarjeva street 40.
Ljubljana Festival is the biggest, oldest and most important festival in both Slovenia and the wider region. Over the years, it has become a way of life during the summer holidays for residents and visitors of Ljubljana alike; and for visitors not only from surrounding countries but from far beyond as well.
With its colourful cosmopolitan spirit, the festival contributes a great deal to the life and energy of the Slovenian capital, itself considered one of the liveliest cities in Europe.
On Fridays from mid-March to October, the Ljubljana Central Market hosts a street food market that you simply cannot miss.
At the market, called Open Kitchen, you can experience the delights of freshly cooked food prepared by different Slovenian chefs right in front of you, at the market stalls.
Be marvelled by one of the most unique Christmas lights displays. Ljubljana shines in a festive blaze of lights every year in the period before Christmas. Each year in December, the Festive Fair turns the historical city centre of Ljubljana into a major hub of social life. The city hosts a diverse program of events for adults and children, consisting of St Nicholas's Procession, concerts of Christmas songs performed by children's choirs and street theatre performances. In Ljubljana, December is considered to be a month of events, and despite the cold, the city's streets are vibrant throughout the month. All the festive events held in public spaces are free.
